It won't stay in place, it constantly rotates so the padded part is facing up. Even when you get it in place, as soon as you pick up the carseat, the cushion starts to rotate. I find myself fighting with it the entire time I'm carrying the baby. The Padalily is a much better design. Since it is padded all the way around, it doesn't matter if it rotates. The infant seat is still a heavy thing to carry, but this certainly makes it a little easier on the arm! My only criticisms would be that it slides around a bit (not much, the little rubber grippers help) and it's presence makes it a little difficult to put the canopy up all the way.
