My son is 12 days old and I've used the Boppy maybe 6 times. It was useful at the hospital where I used it while inclined in bed; this was great. At home I nurse primarily in a glider which does not allow me to fit in the chair with the Boppy. I'm small and small breasted so when I use the Boppy in bed I find my son isn't elevated enough. I really hope I can find a good position to use it in for nursing as when it works I can be nearly hands free. I'm sure it will still be great for future tummy time etc. I've found it to be a great support to lay on for a back rub to rub away those ashes and pains from nursing.I got mine at TJ Max's for $24.99, so check out other sources before buying. It fits great with my glider as I can prop the ends up on the arms for a little more lift to baby's head. If I'm somewhere else, I'll just tuck a small pillow underneath. Now that he's older he gets all excited when either my husband or I grab the Boppy--he knows that nursing or a bottle are seconds away. We convinced my mother in law to use this when holding him as an infant and she loved it--she could have rested arms while holding him for hours. He has taken many naps on a lap, snug as a bug on that Boppy. He fit so nicely on it as a newborn and it's cute to now see his long legs hanging way over the edge of the Boppy. Also works great when placed slightly behind a beginning sitter who might tip back. I do like that it has a removable cover. Its a nice shape to fit around my waist, I do wish it was a little bigger though, you know some women gain some good weight with pregnancy? I think the pillow is too low and I always had to put 2 more regular bed pillows on it so I could breastfeed or my c section incision would hurt and my back would be hunched! All in all, I don't regret the buy, just because I would have to use like 3 more bed pillows in addition to the 2 extra ones I use with the boppy. I also know that my son will be able to lay in it when he gets a little bigger. If boppy came out with a pillow twice the height, I would but it! |
